Capturing the Subject Before Me
Whether, A — Portrait — Landscape — Floral — May Spark My Interest!

My Story
My 30 years as Architect infused many of my paintings with a “keen realism” Now 30 year as a Painter, my collection
of paintings grew out of my “ fascination with portraits, beautiful landscapes & floral paintings.”
Over the few years, my artwork has evolved and become has more relaxed. The results is bolder and impressionistic.
My paintings have in “many exhibitions” & “received numerous awards.”

1973 Established Chilless Nielsen Architects in Portland. My goal was to have my own architectural firm by the age of thirty. I missed it by four days.
1996 As computers took over my architectural practice I experienced what I called “graphite withdrawal.” It was a major change from drawing eight hours a day to moving only a mouse. I felt I need to express my artistic skills and began to paint in earnest.
1993 Established Assisted Living Facilities to develop retirement housing.
2004 Retired and now paint full time. The transition from architecture to painting has been easy because of my knowledge of design and composition.
2009-2014 Portrait Society of America, Oregon State Ambassador.
2015 Continue paint with much joy.
